CARING COMMITTEE
The primary role of the Caring Committee is sharing love, compassion, support, and inspiration with our church-family members. This committee is comprised of active members and the entire St. Francis of Assisi Congregation. The connections established by members of the Caring Committee are ‘God moments’, for Christ has no hands but our hands. The on-going activities of this ministry include: = Sending cards, making phone calls, or visiting those needing support during difficult times or in times of transition. = Participating in a Phone Care Line with those parishioners living alone. = Delivering plants at Easter and Christmas to parishioners. = Taping the Sunday service for people unable to come to church. = Coordinating meals and transportation for those i need. = Providing ‘Care Notes’ which address many of the crises and challenges of life. = Honoring members of our congregation on their 80th and 90th birthdays with a special Coffee Hour. = Sharing our activities in the "Grapevine" on a monthly basis. = Preparing the bulletin board in the narthex with names and pictures of those celebrating a birthday each month. = Celebrating special events in the lives of our church family: 50th Wedding Anniversary, 80th Birthday Party. The Caring Committee meets on the last Tuesday of each month, except during the summer months. Those attending the meetings are honored with the expertise, gifts, and wisdom of St. Francis of Assisi parishioners and guests on varied subjects relating to loving, supporting, and caring for our community members. Some topics of review and discussion this year included: "Stewardship as Caring", a Forum on Cancer, "Tips for Hospital and Home Visits", "The Grieving Process", "Living with Chronic Pain", "Music as Therapy", and "Spiritual Support for People with Alzheimer’s and their Caregivers". The goals for the Caring Committee are to strengthen the many ministries already in place and to increase the scope of people participating with these ministries.
