OUR MISSION at Saint Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church is: To know Christ To worship Christ To serve Christ ABOUT OUR CHURCH The Episcopal Church is part of the world-wide Anglican Communion, founded by Christian missionaries in the second century. Tied closely to Rome until the 16th century, it values the doctrines and traditions inherited from its early history. The Episcopal Church is a church based upon Scripture, with the Bible as the primary source of doctrine; Tradition, which embraces Christian wisdom from generations past and Reason, which is a gift of the Holy Spirit. OUR WORSHIP The Holy Eucharist is the principal act of worship on Sunday. It is the celebration instituted by Christ at the Last Supper in which we recall his life, death and resurrection, as well as anticipation of his coming again. The word Eucharist comes from the Greek word meaning "the giving of Thanks". Visitors sometimes wonder what to do during services when they visit churches. At St. Francis, we invite you to join in the prayers, hymns and celebration of our Lord's resurrection with the knowledge that there is no "right" posture or gesture of worship. Join with us, and know that we welcome people of all ages and traditions. |
