Visual Arts Ministry

The Arts Ministry at St. Francis is another way we acknowledge the grace and beauty in God’s world. Through the work of artists and photographers from the Pacific Northwest, we enhance our worship with displays in the narthex of the church. A committee made up of St. Francis members selects appropriate art and manages the displays.  Paintings, photographs and other media are typically on display for a month to six weeks. Often, the work of St. Francis parishioners is displayed. We have also displayed the works of nationally prominent artists.

Artist Carol Hansen

The beautiful paintings on display in the narthex are by Carol Hansen of Oregon City. Carol grew up in Wisconsin and studied art and design at the University of Wisconsin Stout. She and her husband Paul moved to Oregon where they raised their two daughters. Carol completed a Masters in Art Education. She is an art teacher at Oregon City High School. Carol is passionate about art and loves to share her enthusiasm with eager students. She works in her studio and when weather permits she is in the field creating impressions of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Her pieces represent a range of subjects from colorful still lifes to land and seascape scenes.
