Thanksgiving Food Boxes

Each year for over a decade we have responded to the needs of local school children and their families with generous boxes of Thanksgiving food, including holiday cooking supplies. This effort is sponsored by our church’s MDE committee (Mission, Discipleship, Evangelism). So it’s time again to consider how we can all help make this happen; part of our mission as followers of Christ is to serve the poor. Last year we served 36 families consisting of 93 children and 62 adults. There are Thanksgiving food lists for you to shop from to help fill our families’ boxes. Later we will be asking for other kinds of help for this effort like packing and delivering boxes. It is a great time to focus our hearts in this way on building up the body of Christ. Please take a food list and shop for items you can bring to church for our families. You will find lists to take with you either in the bulletin, or in the narthex.

Share Thanksgiving with Others

By Wednesday November 14, please bring food items for a Thanksgiving feast to church or to the church office, so we can buy remaining food on Friday and sort food on Saturday. We will be delivering a Thanksgiving food box for local families on Sunday Nov. 18th. We will also need help to sort and deliver the meals. Please sign up at the coffee hour or let Mary Ann Schroeder know at 503 682-1589 if you are willing to deliver a meal. Please choose from the following list:

Canned peas

Canned corn

Fresh sweet potatoes or yams

Boiling potatoes

Bulk Onions

Apples

Oranges

Large Cans of pumpkin

Bulk nuts in shell

Sugar

Flour

Cranberry Sauce

Packaged Stuffing Mix

MDE: MISSION, DISCIPLESHIP, AND EVANGELISM

Optimized-image2Our Outreach Ministry evolved into Mission, Discipleship and  Evangelism, mindful of following Christ and supporting others to do the same with what we do and how we present ourselves.

The MDE ministry keeps the congregation thinking about ways to build up the Kingdom of God while meeting our community needs.

The MDE team manages our care for more than 35 local families taking them Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and Christmas presents; takes weekly parish donations to the local food bank and William Temple House (www.williamtemple.org);
provides dental care and shoes to local  children in need; supports county programs for homeless people and mothers/children who need  to become independent;
sends financial support to people and projects in Africa, Central and  South America, and Haiti; and is always looking for additional ways to serve the world on our  behalf.

Our outreach services serve the individuals and organizations listed in this document.

This year over 1100 lbs. of food was delivered to our local food bank to help feed the hungry in the Wilsonville area. Thank you again
