An Adult Formation class meets most Sundays between the two services, from 9 am to about 10:15. You are welcome to join us in the classroom in the Parish Hall for the current class, described below.

In August there will be two special classes. First, on August 9, Dr. Jon Holland, the Minister of Music, will teach about the organ as an instrument and demonstrate its capabilities. This will take place in the sanctuary between the two services. Second, on August 23, a consultant from Holy Cow will present a summary of the results of the all-parish survey that was conducted as part of our rector transition process. This will take place in the parish hall during the coffee hour after the 10:30 service.
In September, adult education will be on the theme of the Season of Creation, a special liturgical season honoring God as creator and recognizing human interdependence on the rest of creation. |

Adult Formation is organized and often led by a lay person in the congregation, but draws on the knowledge of clergy.
Previous class series have included an summer series on "Understanding Worship," in which participants learned about the Book of Common Prayer and planned a worship service, an Advent series on the Lectionary readings from Isaiah, and conversations based on books by:
Bishop Steven Charleston ("Ladder to the Light"), Mark Demel (“How Not to Waste a Crisis”), W. Paul Jones (“Theological Worlds Within Congregations”), Richard Rohr (“Falling Upward”), and Marcus Borg (“The Heart of Christianity”).

Christian education for children in grades 1-3 is offered during the school year in the Sunday School classroom.

A teen group meets monthly, with a recent focus being planning Rogation Sunday and Father’s Day services.

Besides the Sunday Adult Formation classes, a book group meets regularly. St. Francis has also hosted diocesan education events such as the recent Safe Church training.
