On Easter Sunday, the veil of Lent has been lifted, and flowers and joy come out in abundance. St. Francis looks breathtakingly beautiful on Easter Sunday, and our hearts feel this happiness. Many hands make this possible, so on Easter Saturday, April 16th, we gather and create beauty with lovely flowers. We gather at 9 am for a few hours, and have a really sweet, fun time of creating and sharing friendships - old and new. All flowers are provided. Previous flower arranging experience is not necessary. A sign up sheet is in the Information Center for those who would to help on this glorious day.
Thank you. Apryl Garmon and Jane Domagalski Many people remember the Lenten practice of having a mite box during Lent in which to put a daily offering - in thanksgiving, in reverence, in penitence, in affirmation, in joy - all the things that brought us closer to a godly life and to God. The children in Sunday School will each have a little mite box during Lent. If an adult would also like one, there will be some in the Information Center. They will be offered up on Easter Sunday in the offertory. The main idea is the daily walk with God, and trying to do his will, the best we all can do.

Current Projects Baby Blanket Ensembles - We are busy making baby blanket ensembles for the Salud Medical Center in Woodburn. Each ensemble is unique and includes a double weight flannel receiving blanket, burp cloth and knitted cap - a perfect welcome for a new baby! In January 2021, we gifted Salud with almost 100 ensembles and are striving for 125 to present to them in January 2022. If you can cut fabric, iron, sew straight seams or knit, we welcome your help. Pre-cut kits are available for members to sew at home, which makes completing an ensemble a quick and fun project! Stewardship Quilt - When the Stewardship Campaign is complete, our ministry will help with the preparation of the quilt top and backing for professional quilting and then add the binding after it is quilted. If you would like to help with this effort or would like to learn more about the process, please join us. Your response was overwhelming! Thanks to Kent Lloyd, Ed Burnside, Barbara Bridge and Tiffanie Clifford who helped sort and pack; to Lance and Nyla Emory for loaning their Suburban to transport your gifts to Brookings; to Lance and Nyla, Tiffanie, Ed and Bill Frazier for packing everything into the SUV. We were truly amazed that it all fit!
Bill and Ann Frazier drove to Brookings last Friday, and on Saturday morning delivered the boxes and bins to St Timothy’s church. The Vicar, Deacon and several homeless people stacked everything in a storage room, which was filled to the ceiling. Afterwards, Vicar Bernie Lindley gave us a tour of the church and all their many outreach activities: the clothes closet, food pantry, meals five days a week, showers, plus Covid testing and vaccinations for everyone in Brookings. And their most recent project – a community garden that involves several other churches and groups in town. It was truly amazing to see how much this small congregation is achieving, and it has not gone un-noticed by Bishop Akiyama. She will visiting St Timothy’s this coming weekend to help with Covid testing and vaccinations. |
