Ministries

There are many ways to serve in Christ’s Kingdom at St. Francis. There are over 30 ministries for you to consider and explore. Whether you love visiting other parishioners or you adore knitting, there is a need for your ministry in the Body of Christ. We are open to exploring new paths also, so if you have an idea for a new ministry that resonates with you, let us know!

If you want to learn more about a specific ministry, please call the church office.

Worship

Picture
The sacrament of the Holy Eucharist is the principle act of worship on the Lord's day. The altar is the place of our Lord's presence in the Holy Eucharist. Preparing the altar is a wonderful way to enter into worship. Join a dedicated group of parishioners who assist at the altar, bake bread, and prepare the Sanctuary for service.

The Various Roles in Liturgy

ACOLYTES
Assist at the altar during Sunday services.
ALTAR BREAD BAKING
Take a turn making the bread for communion on Sunday.
ALTAR GUILD
Ensure that the Sanctuary is prepared for worship.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Become a chalice bearer and assist in worship services on Sunday.
EUCHARISTIC VISITORS
Bring communion to parishioners who cannot attend Sunday Services.
LECTORS
Read 1st or 2nd Bible reading on Sunday.

Adult learning and Formation

Picture
Every Sunday at 9:15, our adults gather in Cummins Hall to have conversations about matters of faith, of church tradition, of Christian doctrine, or of the vision of our community. Topic may be themed over a series of weeks or specific to the week. All adults are welcome to join.

Children's Ministry

Picture
Every Sunday at the start of the 10:30 service, the children are bought into the parish hall for Children's Faith Formation. They're brought back into the sanctuary for communion.

Our program is designed to help them experience the mystery of the elusive presence of God, to teach the art of hearing and using the language of the Christian people, to teach the profound story of our biblical faith, and to help children to know God. Church School has a dedicated staff that will welcome your children with joy, love and an opportunity to know God.

Nursery Care

We know how much of a blessing a small child can be, and how important it is to provide safe and loving care on Sunday mornings while parents worship in the sanctuary.

Nursery care is available for the 10:30 Sunday service and other times as needed.

Music Ministry

If you can count you can be a part of the Bell Choir! Rehearsals are typically Mondays; no experience required.
Choral Choir rehearses at 7:00 pm on Wednesdays. Do you play an instrument? Share your talent by playing a solo or accompany the choir on a worship song.

Outreach Ministry

Keep the congregation thinking about ways to build up the Kingdom of God while meeting community needs with the Outreach Ministry.

Food in all forms can be its own ministry. Whether one has a home or lives on the street, a hot coffee or a delicious meal warms the heart. Consider the following ministries that involve food:

CARE BAGS FOR THE HUNGRY
Help pack personal bags for people we encounter who are hungry.
